Congratulations Tim Seaton!

So far 2019 has been a fantastic season for Grimsby Golf Club member Tim Seaton. Tim has won the Club Championship along with the Seniors Championship.

Tim is also a part of the Lincolnshire Seniors and competed recently in the English County Team Championships which are contested through the four English golf regions - South East, South West, Northern & Midlands.

The LUGC are part of the Midlands. Each year the Midland regional team championships is contested by county in rotation and this year it was Nottinghamshire's turn to host the event which was played at at Coxmoor Golf Club.

Each team has six players. The competitors play 36 holes in one day and each may discard one score on each round. It is a scratch event and brings the best of midlands golf to one point.

The LUGC team which included Tim Seaton won by 8 shots and now go forward to play the finals in the first week in October at Effiingham Golf Club (near Guildford).

The finals are contested by playing each of the other three counties. Each match is 36 holes - 3 x 18 holes foursomes and 6 x 18 holes singles.

The team was :

Richard Latham - Woodhall Spa Golf Club
Les Toyne - Woodhall Spa Golf Club
Paul Wharton Woodhall Spa Golf Club
Simon Ostrom - Woodhall Spa Golf Club
Tim Seaton - Grimsby Golf Club
Steve Toyne - Blankney Golf Club

Steve Kellett - Non Playing Captain (Past Grimsby Golf club member)

The Coxmoor course was superbly presented with lightening fast greens with very tricky pin placements. The estimated stimp reading was close to 13 which is incredibly quick. Tim said he would strongly recommend those members who like to get away to other courses should try and go to Coxmoor (near Mansfield).
